Madrona’s vacation rentals include one or two bedroom self contained rustic cabins under the forest canopy of Bodega Ridge, a protected nature area. See this also https://www.masonicsupplyshop.com/american-past-masters-aprons/
The beautiful grounds at Madrona include a children’s play area, a
badminton court and picnic tables. Launch your kayaks, canoes, or beach
comb down on the ocean front. We do not have BBQ on site, so you will
need to bring your own.
Main office hour is 10AM – 6PM with some variations around ferry schedules.
The cabins are on the land side of Porlier Pass Rd. with a water front
view. The view from our beach looks across Tincomali Channel toward Salt
Spring and Vancouver Islands. The cabins are surrounded by large trees
and therefore provide habitat for viewing eagles. Other common animals
include humming birds, raccoon, weasels, mink and deer. From the Ocean
Loft Deck sea lions and orcas are often seen.
On Galiano Island, we have excellent Salmon and Cod fishing.
Scuba diving is a favorite local sport and these waters are teeming with rich marine life.
The beach across from the cabin is a marine protected area.
You can hike along miles of forest trails like Bodega Ridge or beach
comb the many beaches the island has along their rocky shores.
There are delightful sandy beaches where you can picnic and safely swim.
At the south end of the island is Galiano Gulf Course and Country Club.
It is a beautiful nine hole course. The club house has the usual
amenities. Green fees are nominal and all visitors are welcome.
Also on the island, there is:
- Fine & Casual Dining
- 9 Hole Golf Course
- Great Whale & Eagle Watching
- Boat & Moped Rentals
Madrona Lodge has its own beach across the road from the cabins. In
addition, there are many small beaches that are shown on maps or that we
can tell you about. Our beach is suitable for launching a kayak or
canoe and diving or snorkeling
The climate on Galiano Island is different than in Vancouver or
Vancouver Island. There is less rainfall during the year and in the
summer time the conditions are mostly warm and dry. All Galiano
residents use wells, so we all try to conserve water during the hot
summer months. Open fires are not permitted on any of the Gulf Islands
from April 1st to October 15th.
Shops & Restaurants
All of the stores are located near Sturdies Bay at the south end of the island including:
- two grocery stores
- market with excellent fresh produce available and a limited selection of meat
- pub and several small restaurants for an evening out
- gas station
- ferry terminal
- ATM cash machines (no banks on the island)
- Fresh fish is sold at the marina during the summer weekends. During the summer months, there is a outdoor Saturday market
There is free internet access at the school during the week and weekends
(set times) that are posted in the monthly island newspaper (The Active
Page). Sturdies Bay Bakery Cafe and Hummingbird Pub has Wifi Internet
The island is very natural & quiet. Madrona lodge has one of the best spots on island for diving, snorking, and hiking.
Galiano also has for your pleasure:
- mountain bike, moped & kayak rentals
- sailing charters
- 9 hole golf course
- art galleries
- craft fairs
Or simply, just sit back and relax on the deck of your cabin.
